Traveling to Penn CFAR
Transportation from the Philadelphia International Airport
Driving
All major car rental companies are located at the airport. Upon leaving the airport, take I-95 North to Exit 11 for I-76 West/Center City Philadelphia. Merge into the right lane to take the exit for Center City. Cross the Bridge and turn left at the light to I-76 West. After one mile, merge onto I-76 West to Exit 40, South Street (exit from left lane). Turn left onto South Street.
If you need to park your car: At 33rd Street, continue through the intersection onto Spruce Street. Continue on Spruce, and turn right on 38th Street. Just after crossing Walnut Street, enter the parking garage on the right. To reach Penn-CFAR from the parking lot, take 38th Street in the direction from which you came. Pass Spruce Street. 38th Street will turn into University Avenue. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Curie Boulevard. The Biomedical Research Building (BRB) ll/lll is on the right-hand side at the stop sign.
If you are heading directly to Penn-CFAR: At the first traffic light, turn left onto Convention Avenue. Follow Convention Avenue around the bend and proceed to the traffic light. Turn left onto Civic Center Boulevard. Follow Civic Center Boulevard around the bend. At the second traffic light, turn right onto Osler Circle. The Biomedical Research Building ll/lll is the second building on your left.
SEPTA R1 Airport Train (website)
This train leaves the airport and arrives at University City Station, located on the Medical Center campus. The train costs about $5 and takes 20 minutes.
Upon arrival at University City Station, use the stairs for the exit labeled "To Hospital" ( not the exit labeled "To University"). Head to your left on Convention Avenue, and follow Convention Avenue around the bend and proceed to the traffic light. Turn left onto Civic Center Boulevard. Follow Civic Center Boulevard around the bend. At the second traffic light, turn right onto Osler Circle. The Biomedical Research Building ll/lll is the second building on your left.
Lady Liberty Limousine (Phone: 215-222-8888)
This shuttle leaves the Airport every 7-8 minutes and will stop at the Penn Tower Hotel. The fare is $8 and the ride takes 20 minutes. From the front of the hotel, turn left onto Civic Center Boulevard. Follow Civic Center Boulevard around the bend. At the first traffic light, turn right onto Osler Circle. The Biomedical Research Building ll/lll is the second building on your left.
Taxi
From the airport, a metered cab costs about $20 and the ride takes about 20 minutes. You should take a cab to 421 Curie Boulevard to get to the Biomedical Research Building. It might help to tell the driver that Biomedical Research Building is a 14-story building on the University of Pennsylvania Medical Campus, across Osler Circle from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's (CHOP) Wood Building.
