Research and/or Clinical interests:
Dr. Teitelman is interested in HIV prevention among adolescents and in understanding intimate partner violence as an HIV risk factor. She is interested in developing prevention interventions that involve youth, parents, schools and health care and other service providers, with a particular focus on economically disadvantaged minority girls.

Research Summary:
One of Dr. Teitelman's current projects involves examining partner factors (abuse, control, communication) and family factors (parental monitoring, maternal gender norms) on HIV risk among Hispanic and African-American adolescent girls. In another funded project, she is investigating health disparities as well as family protective factors (such as connectedness) of intimate partner violence among adolescents. She is also co-investigator for a CDC funded study examining precursors to youth violence, including intimate partner violence.
