The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care of the University of Pennsylvania offers several educational opportunities in anesthesia, including one month rotations to medical students from other schools. These course are for credit, and must be arranged in advance with both the Perelman School of Medicine and the student's own school. Individual attention and flexibility in course design allow a student to tailor a rotation uniquely suited to his/her needs.
The Penn Anesthesia Department welcomes any interested medical student (in any year of medical school) to visit the department and spend some time with our faculty and residents in the operating rooms, the intensive care units, the pain clinic or any other area of special interest. We would be happy to discuss careers in anesthesia with you, and help you explore the extraordinary breadth of opportunities in the field of anesthesiology. Such visits are easily arranged and are particularly encouraged for medical students prior to their senior year.
