This is a de novo designed redox protein maquette synthesized in Dutton's lab. The design of novel proteins which are intended to adopt predetermined three-dimensional structures and bind certain functional groups is providing insights into the mechanisms, dynamics, and the thermodynamics governing protein structure, stability, and function. A variety of designed proteins have been synthesized and characterized in DeGrado's Lab and Dutton's lab .
