Short Courses: Economic Assessments in Clinical Trials

Workshop C, May 2006
Research in Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke Workshop

Course Description:

The adoption and diffusion of new cardiovascular treatments depend increasingly on evidence of costs and cost effectiveness.  This evidence is increasingly being generated from patient level data in randomized study designs. However, analysis of economic data from such studies has raised serious analytic issues.

SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1 In this course, the faculty and participants will explore issues in the design and analysis of economic assessments in clinical trials, including analytic approaches for the analysis of patient-level cost data; and assessing the stochastic uncertainty around the cost-effectiveness estimates. The course will be practical in orientation and will routinely provide examples to illustrate the "how tos".
