Nineteenth Annual James E Eckenhoff, MD Lecture


Paul Myles, MBBS, MPH, MD, FCARCSI, FANZCA, FRCA, Professor and Chair, Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, Alfred Hospital and Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, presented the 19th Annual James E Eckenhoff, MD Lecture at the department Academic Evening on October 29, 2015.  Dr Myles’ lecture was entitled, “What is a Poor Outcome after Anesthesia and Surgery: Quality of Recovery and Disability-Free Survival?” The lecture was preceded by poster presentations and followed by dinner.

Eleventh Annual Josephine “Pina” Templeton Lecture


The 11th Annual Josephine “Pina” Templeton Lecture, on February 11, 2016, at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, was given by Samuel C. Aldridge, MD, surgeon with the New Hampshire Medical Task Force One, US Department of Homeland Security.  His talk, “Forward Surgical Care in Afghanistan,” was riveting and provocative.

Tenth Annual Stephen J. Prevoznik Lecture on Leadership


We were fortunate to have Keith A. Jones, M.D., Alfred Habeeb Professor and Chair, Dept. of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham, present the 10th  Annual Stephen J. Prevoznik Lecture on Leadership at our Grand Rounds on February 4, 2016. The title of Tony’s talk was,“Anesthesiologists as Acute Care Physicians: A Value-Added Proposition,” an important example of effective leadership in healthcare today.

Eighth Annual Brett Gutsche Lecture on Obstetrical Anesthesia

Eleni Tsigas, Executive Director of the Preeclampsia Foundation, presented the 8th Annual Brett Gutsche Lecture, "Preeclampsia:What Patients Want You to Know," at Grand Rounds on December 12, 2014. She gave a very dynamic, heartfelt, and personal talk, increasing awareness and improving healthcare practices regarding preeclampsia.

Second Harry Wollman, MD Lecture


Claire Pomeroy, MD, MBA, President, Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation, presented the 2nd Harry Wollman, MD Lecture at Grand Rounds on November 12, 2015.  Dr Pomeroy’s talk was entitled, “Biomedical Research: Triumphs, Challenges, and the Future.” Later that day, Claire also gave the weekly departmental Research in Progress Seminar, entitled, “Thriving in Research: 2015.”
