Program Summary
Dr. Braunstein is Co-investigator in the EDIC trial, a follow-up study of the Diabetes Control and Complications Cohort looking at the progression of complications. Complications of diabetes, especially the long-term effects of diabetes on neuropathy, retinopathy and nephropathy and interventions that will prevent or slow progression of these complications.

Dr. Braunstein Principal investigator in a clinical trail studying the effects of a new adlose-reductase inhibitor, zenarestat, on the rpogression of diabetic neuropathy.

Other clinical trials in progress include the use of inhaled insulin in type 2 diabetes, new insulin senstizing agents as monotherapy and in combination therapy in tpye 2 diabetes, and the use of new insulin analogues in the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
