Program Summary
Dr. Schwartz’s primary interest is the care of patients with diabetes and its complications, as well as the hope of preventing diabetes , and pursuing its early detection and treatment.

Current research interests include PKC-Inhibitor evaluation, Fast CT evaluation of coronary disease in diabetes, use of home HgA1c monitoring in diabetes, erectile dysfunction in patients with diabetes, EDIC trial f/u of DCCT patients and the LOOK AHEAD trial of DM, obesity and CV outcomes with weight loss.

He is also interested in the use of a Computerized Patient Record to implement principles of diabetes diease management in the care of patients with diabetes throughout the Health system.e.
