Michael Rickels

New Leadership Role within the Endocrinology Division

Dr. Susan Mandel has accepted the positions of Associate Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and Director of Clinical Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, effective January 1, 2008.

Her responsibilities will include oversight, integration, and strategic planning of clinical endocrine practices at HUP and throughout UPHS, including Pennsylvania Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital, the VA Medical Center, and CCA. Dr. Mandel is internationally known for her pioneering approach to the diagnosis and management of thyroid cancer, and will also lead an exciting new Penn Thyroid Center that will be located in the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, in collaboration with the Abramson Cancer Center.
