Alexis was born and raised in the Southeast Texas town of Beaumont, where he first fell in love with sports as a multi-sport athelete. He left Texas for New Jersey to attend college at Princeton University, where he participated in track and field. Following college Alexis worked for a year with Vanderbilt University Sports Medicine before enrolling in medical school at Emory University. After medical school, Alexis completed a year of general surgery internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania before starting Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency at the University of Pennsylvania. During his last year of PM&R residency, Alexis served as chief resident. He is no stranger to the family medicine department as he has spent time during his residency rotating through the Family Medicine department. In his free time, Alexis enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs, as well as cooking creole cuisine, playing/watching sports, and following American politics.
