Residency: The Family Medicine Residency at the University of Pennsylvania was fully accredited in September of 1997. Our initial class of six first-year residents began their training in the summer of 1998. In June 2000, we reached our full complement of 18 residents, six in each class. The first resident class graduated in June 2001. Our residency offices are located at the Presbyterian Medical Center of the University of Pennsylvania, immediately adjacent to Penn Family Care, our residency practice office.
Research: Research is a primary emphasis of our Department. Ongoing projects in a variety of domains provide a rich environment for collaboration.
Fellowship: The Department offers a two year Faculty Development Fellowship leading to a Master's Degree.
Patient Care: Penn
Family Care is located on the 7th floor of the Mutch building at
the Presbyterian Medical Center. Our office phone number (215) 662-8777.
Appointments may be made via the UPHS appointments page. Remember

your appointment. The practice may be contacted via electronic mail

Community Initiatives: The department and residency are serious about our commitment to our neighbors. Intellectually we explore the field of community health as we form teams to address the health needs of our own Philadelphia community.
Medical Student Education: The Department contributes to undergraduate medical student teaching in each phase of Penn's new Curriculum 2000. A required clerkship experience in Family Practice commenced in January 1999.
