 Research in the Department of
Family Medicine and Community Health has rapidly expanded since the department was established in 1997.
Through our research, we strive to improve
health and health care for primary care patients locally and nationally. Our faculty,
fellows, and residents have a broad range of research interests including adherence,
aging, bioethics, depression, end-of-life care, history of medicine, inter-personal
violence, literacy, medical decision-making, and obstetrics.
Our
faculty have appointments to many other parts of Penn, such as the Abramson Cancer Center,
Center for Bioethics, Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Department of Psychiatry,
Institute on Aging, the Graduate School of Education , the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, and
the School of Arts and Sciences.
As a result, we participate in many collaborative, interdisciplinary research projects.
Our faculty members mentor
fellows and residents in our department and throughout the University, and to Penn medical
and undergraduate students in their research development.
