FAMILY MEDICINE AND INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENTS
OSTEOPOROSIS SPECIALTY CLINIC
Clinic Location
First Floor Geriatrics Clinic
Ralston-Penn Center
3615 Chestnut Street
Philadelphia, PA 19104
Description
of Clinic
The Osteoporosis Specialty Clinic evaluates patients with suspected
or known osteoporosis, osteopenia, and other metabolic conditions that
cause bone loss. As part of their elective in geriatric medicine, residents
may observe and participate in the diagnosis and management of patients
with metabolic and age-related bone loss, both in the setting of an
initial visit or in follow-up. Depending on the time of the rotation,
residents may also have the opportunity to participate in the education
and screening of older adults for osteoporosis, as part of a wellness
program organized through the Ralston Center. The resident is encouraged
to find out about scheduled patients and community screening workshops
at the beginning of their rotations, since these experiences may vary
from month to month.
