The Penn Comprehensive
Hemophilia and Thrombosis Program (PCHP) provides diagnosis
and treatment for adult patients with inherited and
acquired disorders of hemostasis. PCHP staff work closely
with the Comprehensive
Hemophilia Program at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia,
providing coordinated comprehensive care over a patients
lifetime.
PCHP services include:
- Education about bleeding and thrombotic
disorders and their management
- Training and support of home therapy
for hemophilia and severe von Willebrand disease
- Coordination with Penn
Home Infusion Therapy and other home care providers
for factor product provision and home therapy support
- Psychological and social services
support for patients with inherited bleeding disorders
- Physical therapy evaluation and
treatment
- Resources for vocational counseling
and training
- Genetic counseling services
- Studies of new products and treatments
for hemophilia, von Willebrand disease and other
bleeding and thrombotic disorders
- Medical care for HIV infected patients
with inherited bleeding and clotting disorders
- Access to preventive services,
including the CDC-funded Universal
Data Collection System
- Referral to physicians and other
providers familiar with bleeding disorders, including
orthopedics, oral surgery, dentistry, hepatology,
high risk obstetrics, gynecology, and others.
- Consultative services for physicians
caring for patients with bleeding disorders.
PCHP
receives funding from the Centers for Disease Control
(CDC), the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of
HHS, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Delaware
Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation, and the
Brandywine Valley Hemophilia Foundation.
