PhD Training in Biomedical Imaging and Informational Sciences
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) is partnered with the NIH National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) to support a new Interfaces Program at the University of Pennsylvania for PhD training in Imaging Sciences. The objective is to develop a cadre of scientists with the knowledge and skills to conduct research at the interface between clinically-related imaging and biomedical, physical, chemical, engineering, and computational sciences.
Applications are invited from students who have completed or are completing an undergraduate degree during which evidence of strong quantitative skills are evident, and who wish to apply those skills to PhD research in Image Analysis relevant to disease processes and clinical medicine. During the first 18 months, Penn HHMI Interfaces Scholars take didactic and laboratory courses that vertically integrate intensive medical school course work with imaging sciences. The PhD research may be chosen from any of the cutting edge modalities of biomedical imaging science at Penn; for example, human disease imaging, basic cell/molecular imaging involving physical or chemical research related to eventual clinical application, .....etc. The program is outlined in greater detail HERE.
Note: Applicants must be US Citizens or Permanent Residents.
