Thank you for your interest in our program.
The Department of Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Department of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are proud to introduce you to our combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Training Program. This four-year program is designed to cultivate academic internal medicine/pediatric physicians. The diversity of clinical experiences from primary care to world renowned sub-specialty care, mentoring, and research opportunities available at our institutions make this a unique training opportunity.
The four years of curriculum has been designed jointly by the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics under the direction of Program Directors Dr. Charmaine Wright and Dr. Stephen Ludwig. We are lucky enough to have additional members of the core faculty who are pediatrics, internal medicine/adolescent and med-peds trained who focus on curricular, clinical and research development for the program.
Our residents are completely integrated into both the internal medicine and pediatrics residents program with the benefit of access to resources on both sides, including the unique tracks and electives available in the medicine program. We do this while still maintaining our own identity as med-peds residents preserving time to come together including weekly combined med-peds conference, clinical rotations and social events. Our program also offers unique opportunities such as our Global Health Track with protected travel time and curriculum as well as focused career and research mentoring including the Clinical Investigator Toolbox and Medical Education electives.
