The Department of Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Department of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are proud of the excellent academic and clinical training available to residents in our combined program. This four-year program is designed to cultivate academic med-peds physicians. The diversity of clinical experiences, from primary care to world-renowned sub-specialty care, mentoring, and research opportunities available to residents in our program make this a unique training opportunity.

The four years of curriculum offered to our residents has been designed jointly by the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics under the direction of our co-program directors, Dr. Charmaine Wright and Dr. Stephen Ludwig. We also have additional core faculty members, who are trained in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, and med-peds. These core faculty members focus on curriculum development, education, and mentoring for our residents.

Our residents are completely integrated into the categorical internal medicine and pediatrics residency programs. They have access to resources in both programs, including the unique tracks and electives available in the medicine program at Penn. However, we still maintain our own med-peds identity and community, and preserve time to come together for weekly med-peds educational conferences, journal clubs, and social events.

Please explore our site, and feel free to contact us with any questions. We invite you to submit an application to our program through ERAS.
