Gregory Tino, M.D. graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. degree, and received his M.D. from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York in 1986. After completing residency training in Internal Medicine, and a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, he joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in 1992. He has now achieved the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. He is an active clinician with a major role in teaching and clinical research activities. He is currently the Director of the Pulmonary Outpatient Practices, and serves on a number of academic committees at Penn. He is also Director of the Pulmonary Fellows Outpatient Practice.

Dr. Tino serves as Vice Chairman for the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, and Vice President of the Pennsylvania Thoracic Society. He is a Past President of the Laennec Society of Philadelphia.

He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians as well as a member of the American Thoracic Society, and American College of Physicians.

Dr. Tino was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and was awarded the Harold Elster Memorial Prize for highest academic standing in the graduating class at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. In addition, he received the Maurice F. Attie Faculty Teaching Award from the Department of Medicine at Penn for excellence in teaching and demonstration of humanistic qualities, as well as the Mayock-Fishman Teaching Award from Penn’s pulmonary and critical care division. He was honored by the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine with the 1999-2000 Robert Dunning Dripps Memorial Award for excellence in graduate medical education. Finally, he received the 2001 Donald B. Martin Teaching Service Award from the Department of Medicine at Penn.

He has authored a number of original articles and book chapters, and lectures freqyently on various topics in pulmonary and critical care medicine. He was a co-investigator on an NIH-sponsored multi-center study of Lung Volume Reduction Surgery for emphysema (NETT), and is a Principal or Subinvestigator for several ongoing clinical trials in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and COPD.

Dr. Tino has been recognized as a Top Doctor in Pulmonary Medicine in Philadelphia Magazine, as well as the Castle Connolly Guide and other national publications.

He is married to Linda Tino, R.N., and has three children, Gregory, Alyssa and Ryan.
