Dr. Grippi is Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, and Chief of Medicine at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. His practice at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and his teaching at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine reflect a broad range of interests in pulmonary medicine, including the physiological basis of pulmonary function testing, neuromuscular causes of respiratory failure, and the spectrum of drug-induced lung injury. He is also interested in the development of "critical pathways" in clinical practice and their effect on outcome.
