The University of Pennsylvania has a long and proud tradition of pulmonary research. Several important advancements that have become standard of care originated at Penn, such as the single-breath diffusing capacity and body plethysmography. Projects currently underway range from basic investigation of normal cell function to clinical studies of therapeutic techniques.
