Research Opportunities
Research is an important aspect of our mission at Penn. Opportunities exist during the second and third year elective rotations to engage in basic research projects under the direct supervision of a Penn faculty member.
In addition, Penn has an R25 grant funded by the NIH. This grant allows residents the opportunity to perform at least 6 continuous months of dedicated research time during their PGY-3 or PGY-4 years. This resident will have the opportunity to take courses at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
The Department of Neurology Residency Program is also forming a Global Health track which will incorporate periodic lectures and other activities.
Residents may spend 6 weeks in their PGY-3 or PGY-4 year in an international region that is affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania. These regions consist of Guatemala, Nicaragua, Kenya and Botswana.
As part of this experience the resident would perform a research project under the guidance of a faculty member.
