Salary and Benefits
Salaries are competitive, and increase with each post graduate year. Benefits available to the house staff include medical/prescription, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance from among a choice of several comprehensive plans with a minimal biweekly copayment for single and family plans.
- Malpractice insurance is provided at no cost to the trainee.
- Free parking is provided for all rotations.
- Meal coupons are provided for residents when required to be on-call in-house.
- Residents receive an educational allowance each year for the purchase of books, journal subscriptions, and/or conference registration.
- Lab coats are provided for each resident, as well as laundry service for lab coats.
- University recreational buildings are open to house staff, free of charge, including swimming, track, basketball, squash, tennis, ice skating, and exercise facilities.
- There are many cultural events as well as intercollegiate sports activities scheduled throughout the year.
- One month of paid vacation is usually taken in two-week blocks in the fall and spring. In addition, a six-day break is scheduled over the Christmas/New Year's holidays.
