Good Shepherd Penn Partners & Penn Medicine Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony to Announce Expansion of Rittenhouse Campus Facility & Patient ServicesFormer Flyers Captain and Penn Rehab Patient, Keith Primeau to Attend
WHO & WHAT: GSPP & Penn Medicine Good Shepherd Penn Partners (GSPP) and Penn Medicine are holding a groundbreaking ceremony at the Penn Medicine Rittenhouse Campus. The ceremony is to announce to the community the new facility changes and patient services additions, especially the addition of out-patient physical medicine and rehabilitation services. Former Philadelphia Flyers captain and former Penn Medicine patient, Keith Primeau, will attend and give a few remarks about the importance of rehab medicine in his recovery. The additional 12,000 square feet dedicated to a new Outpatient Therapy Clinical will feature specialty services for neurological conditions and injuries and orthopaedics and sports medicine injuries. With the expansion comes three new services: a Comprehensive Traumatic Brain Injury Program, a Spinal Cord Injury Program and a state-of-the-art Gait Lab that uses computer analysis, pressure sensitive floor and multiple video cameras to analyze patients’ natural walking cycles. This new expansion enables Good Shepherd Penn Partners and Penn Medicine to offer patients the full continuum of care in one facility. Patients will be able to receive all their inpatient and outpatient post-acute care in one location. During the first part of 2012, the renovation of this first-floor space at Penn Medicine Rittenhouse will be completed and will house a new GSPP Penn Therapy & Fitness site and Penn Medicine’s Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation’s administrative offices and patient care space.
