Maryellen Reilly Appointed Associate
Executive Administrator at HUP
(Philadelphia, PA) -- Maryellen Reilly, MS, has been
promoted to Associate Executive Administrator at the
Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), effective
June 12, 2003. Previously, Reilly served as Assistant
Hospital Administrator for HUP.
"Maryellen is a seasoned healthcare administrator whose
dedication, resourcefulness, and creativity have served
us well in improving organizational efficiences - which,
in turn, permit us to better serve patients," said Albert
Black, Chief Operating Officer of HUP, in announcing
the appointment.
In her new role, Reilly assumes administrative responsibility
for the creation, implementation, management and follow-up
monitoring of the hospital's Clinical Staff Practitioners
Program, which is being initiated in response to new
Residency Program work-hour rules. She retains administrative
responsibility for the following hospital departments
or divisions -- Emergency Department, Occupational Medicine,
Admissions Center, Clinical Resources Management and
Social work, Medical Records, Neurodiagnostics, Respiratory
Therapy, and Transport - and continues to serve as the
hospital's HIPAA Privacy Officer.
Reilly joined the University of Pennsylvania Health
System in 1998 as Director of the Clinical Resource
Management and Social Work Departments for both HUP
and the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center /
Presbyterian (formerly known as Presbyterian Medical
Center). During her five-year tenure, she has accepted
various positions of increasing responsibility.
Before joining Penn, Reilly was affiliated with the
Allegheny Health System - where she began her career
in healthcare administration as Director of Infection
Control at one of its community hospitals. Within a
short period of time, she was elevated to the post of
Corporate Director for Case Management and Performance
Improvement for the entire nine-hospital system.
Reilly earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Temple
University; and completed her graduate work in Clinical
Management and Immunology at the Medical College of
Pennsylvania (now Drexel Hahnemann-MCP).
