Thomas P. Cappola, MD, ScM, Appointed
Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
(Philadelphia,
PA) - Thomas P. Cappola, MD, ScM, has
been appointed to the position of Assistant Professor
of Medicine in the division of Cardiovascular Medicine
at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Prior to this appointment, Cappola was
Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology
at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in
Baltimore, MD.
Cappola attended Princeton University
in Princeton, NJ and received his BA in Chemistry. He
earned his MD at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA,
and his ScM. in Clinical Investigation from John Hopkins
University.
His current research focuses on ventricular
remodeling in patients with advanced heart failure.
Cappola has received numerous awards including the Howard
Silverman Award for Creativity in Medical Research from
Johns University School of Medicine, the ACC/Merck Fellowship
Grant, a Pfizer Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cardiovascular
Medicine, and a career development award from the National
Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
He is a member of the American College
of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the
Heart Failure Society of America.
His research has been published in the
Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology,
Physiological Genomics, Circulation, and
Nature.
