Virginia W. Chang, MD, PhD, Appointed
Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
(Philadelphia,
PA) - Virginia W. Chang, MD, PhD, has been appointed
to the position of Assistant Professor of Medicine in
the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University
of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Chang attended the University of Michigan
and received her BS in Biomedical Sciences and Philosophy.
She earned her MD at the University of Michigan Medical
School, and an MA and PhD in Sociology at the University
of Chicago. She also completed internship and residency
programs and a fellowship in the Department of Medicine
at the University of Chicago.
Chang, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, has
received numerous awards including the James B. Angell
Scholar Award and the Eli G. Rochelson Award for Excellence
in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, both from the
University of Michigan. Currently, her research is supported
by a Career Development Award in Women's Health Research
from the National Institutes of Health. She serves as
a reviewer of manuscripts for journals in both medicine
and sociology, and she is a core faculty member of the
Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion at the
Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Her research has been published in several
journals including Health Services Research,
Sociology of Health and Illness, Journal of
the American Geriatrics Society, Journal of General
Internal Medicine, American Journal of Preventive
Medicine, Spine, and Orthopaedic Transactions.
