Hallam Hurt, MD, Appointed Associate
Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania
(Philadelphia,
PA) - Hallam Hurt, MD, has been appointed to
the position of Associate Professor of Pediatrics in
the Department of Pediatrics at the University of
Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Hurt attended Sweet Briar College in Sweet
Briar, VA, and earned her BS in Government. She earned
her MD from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville,
VA. Prior to her Penn appointment, Hurt was Professor
of Pediatrics at the Temple University School of Medicine,
and Jefferson Medical College of the Thomas Jefferson
University in Philadelphia, PA.
Hurt, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, has
received numerous awards including the Physician's Award
for Excellence and the J. Stanley and Helene M. Cohen
Award for Outstanding Research Contributions from the
Albert Einstein Healthcare Foundation, and the Maimonides
Society Award from the Albert Einstein Medical Center.
She also received the 2000 Women of Distinction Award
from the Philadelphia Business Journal, the 10th
Annual Distinguished Alumna Award from The University
of Virginia, and has been noted several times as one
of Philadelphia's top doctors by Philadelphia Magazine.
She is a member of the American Academy
of Pediatrics, the Perinatal Section of the American
Academy of Pediatrics, The American Pediatric Society,
the Philadelphia Pediatric Society, the Philadelphia
Perinatal Association, and the Maimonides Society.
Her research has been published in several
journals including the Journal of Pediatrics,
Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine,
Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics,
Journal of Perinatology, Journal of Early
Intervention, Clinical Pediatrics, Contemporary
Pediatrics and Developmental Pharmacology.
