Seema S. Sonnad, PhD, Appointed Associate
Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
(Philadelphia,
PA) - Seema S. Sonnad, PhD, has been appointed
to the position of Associate Professor of Medicine in
the Department of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania
School of Medicine. Prior to this appointment, Sonnad
was Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery
at the University of Michigan.
Sonnad attended Stanford University and
earned her BS in Biology and Geology, and an MS in Statistics.
She also holds an MS in Geology from the University
of Washington in Seattle, WA. She earned her PhD in
Health Services and Policy Analysis at the University
of California at Berkeley.
Her current research focuses on outcomes
of surgical care, technology assessment in surgery,
and recruitment and retention issues in academic surgery.
Sonnad received The Dora Garibaldi Scholarship
from the University of California at Berkeley, and the
Abrams Award from Stanford University. She serves as
an editorial reviewer for Academic Radiology,
the American Journal of Managed Care, Health
Economics, Medical Decision Making, Radiology,
The American Journal of Managed Care, and Vascular
Surgery.
Her research has been published in numerous
journals, including Surgery, Radiology,
Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and The Journal
of the International Society for Technology Assessment
in Healthcare.
