“This is such a wonderful idea to hand out dozens of new, donated stuffed animals to parents at discharge,” said Valerie Shaw, MS, RN, nurse manager of the intensive care nursery, and who is heading up this effort along with Ann Phalen, PhD, MSN, RNC, clinical nurse specialist. “It’s a special way for us to say to them ‘we appreciate the time you spent here in our unit.’”
