Christopher J. Cohen, MD, PhD, Named
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of
Pennsylvania School of Medicine
(Philadelphia,
PA) - Christopher J. Cohen, MD, PhD, has been named
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Department
of Pediatrics, Division of Immunologic and Infectious
Diseases, at the University of Pennsylvania School of
Medicine.
Dr. Cohen is currently a Junior Member of The Joseph
Stokes, Jr. Research Institute and an attending physician
at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He
is a graduate of Yale University, where he earned his
medical degree from the School of Medicine and his doctoral
degree in Cell Biology from the Department of Cell Biology.
He was a pediatric resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital
in Connecticut and a fellow with the Division of Immunologic
and Infectious Diseases at CHOP. He is currently researching
the function of viral receptors.
He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics
and of Phi Beta Kappa from Swarthmore College. He has
authored or co-authored articles in peer-reviewed publications
including the Journal of Virology, Proceedings of
the National Academy of Science, Journal of Cell Biology
and Circulation Research. Most recently, he was
invited to lecture at the Society for Pediatric Research.
Dr. Cohen has received numerous research grants including
the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society Fellowship
Award from Glaxo-SmithKline Pharmaceuticals, the Beginning
Grant-in-Aid from the American Heart Association, Pennsylvania/Delaware
affiliate, and the National Institutes of Health/National
Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases KO8 research
funding.
