Dr. Michael Ming Appointed Assistant
Professor of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania
School of Medicine
(Philadelphia,
PA) - Dr. Michael Ming has been appointed an
Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology
at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
After earning his medical degree in 1993 from Harvard
Medical School, Dr. Ming completed an internship at
Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, a residency
at Harvard Medical School and fellowships at the University
of California in San Francisco, CA, and the Veteran
Affairs Medical Center in San Francisco.
From 1999 to 2000, Dr. Ming served as Clinical Instructor
in Pathology at the University of California, and from
2000 to 2002 as Instructor of Dermatology at the University
of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Dr. Ming's research interests are risk factors related
to melanoma and dysplastic moles, and analyzing the
microscopic misdiagnosis of melanoma. He is currently
developing models for predicting the occurrence of second
primary melanomas and working to identify the characteristics
associated with microscopic misdiagnosis of melanoma.
Dr. Ming is also assessing the attitudes and beliefs
of dermatologists and dermapathologists on the relationship
between dysplastic moles and melanoma. .
In 2000, Dr. Ming received the Award for Young Investigators
in Dermatology from the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Ming has co-authored original research studies
and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and written
or co-written editorials, reviews and chapters for print
publications.
Dr. Ming holds memberships in a number of national
professional societies, including the American Academy
of Dermatology, the American Medical Association, and
the Massachusetts Medical Society.
