Dr. Bruce Pawel Appointed Assistant
Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
School of Medicine
(Philadelphia,
PA) - Dr. Bruce Pawel has been appointed an Assistant
Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory
Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of
Medicine.
Dr. Pawel earned his medical degree in 1984 from the
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).
In 1985 he completed an internship in internal medicine
at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York
City. From 1985-89 Dr. Pawel completed a residency in
pathology at UMDNJ, and from 1989-90 he served as Chief
Resident in Pathology at UMDNJ. From 1990-91 he completed
a fellowship in pediatric pathology at Children's Hospital
in Columbus, OH.
From 1995 to 1998, Dr. Pawel served as Instructor in
Pathology at Allegheny Hospital. He is also currently
an Assistant Neuropathologist at Children's Hospital
in Philadelphia.
Dr. Pawel's research interests focus on the pathology
of pediatric solid tumors and treating tumors with anti-angiogenic
agents. He is also involved in collaborative studies
on myogenic lesions.
Dr. Pawel has co-authored original research studies
and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals, and holds memberships
in professional associations including the Children's
Oncology Group, the Society for Pediatric Pathology,
and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
