Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRCWH) is a career development program sponsored by the Office of Research on Women's Health at the National Institutes of Health. The BIRCWH Program supports mentored research career development of junior members of the Medical School faculty, known as BIRCWH Scholars. The Scholars are engaged in interdisciplinary studies relevant to women's health or gender factors. The goal of the Program is to increase the number and skills of junior investigators leading to an independent scientific career that will benefit the health of women. There are currently 6 Scholars in the BIRCWH Program, who represent diverse areas of interdisciplinary research in basic, behavioral, clinical and health services research.
