The University of Pennsylvania Obstetrics & Gynecology medical student rotations focus on health care of women during the reproductive and post-reproductive years. Our Core Clinical Clerkship, required for all Penn Medical Students, emphasizes care of the pregnant woman, normal labor and delivery, common obstetrical and gynecologic problems, preventive care, screening for and treatment of gynecologic malignancies, family planning and sexuality. Advanced electives are available in all subspecialties to both Penn and visiting students, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and Pennsylvania Hospital sites. Also, Penn students may elect to complete the Women’s Health Certificate Program sponsored by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and FOCUS on Health & Leadership for Women.
The attending and resident faculty at HUP as well as our affiliate sites are dedicated to the education of medical students. Our goal is to educate students about those aspects of Women’s Health that are integral to their general medical knowledge regardless of which specialty they choose to pursue. We hope that you will use the knowledge and skills you acquire in your future professional and personal lives. We hope that you enjoy the time you spend on our rotations through the broad range of educational and clinical experiences available to you during the clerkship.
