The Glaucoma Fellowship at the Scheie Eye Institute is a one-year clinical and research program.

The glaucoma fellow is active in all aspects of the clinical glaucoma practice as well as assisting with supervision of the residents on the glaucoma service and in resident clinic.

The fellow under the supervision of the attending staff may initiate research projects.

Salary & Benefits

The University of Pennsylvania Department of Ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute funds this fellowship.

The department provides salary support, medical malpractice insurance, health benefits, vacation time of 14 days per year, and 7 days of continuing medical education time.

All fellows are employees of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Fellows will be paid at the PGY-5 level, as established by the office of Graduate Medical Education.


Fellows MUST have an unrestricted Pennsylvania state medical license before joining the fellowship program.

Application Process

Applicants for Glaucoma and Retina Fellowships should apply to the SFMatch and complete the CAS Fellowship application.

The interview date for the Glaucoma Fellowship is Friday, October 20, 2017.

The interview date for the Retina Fellowship is Friday, October 27, 2017.
