The Center for Hereditary Retinal Degenerations provides diagnostic evaluation and clinical consultation for patients with inherited forms of retinal degeneration and performs research leading to a greater understanding of the basis of these conditions. The ultimate goal is to provide treatment for these incurable disorders.

The Retinal Function department performs electrophysiological tests (ERG, EOG, VEP), psychophysical tests (color vision, perimetry, dark adaptation), and imaging tests (OCT, fundus photography) on patients to permit diagnosis and monitoring of retinal diseases.
