Supporting the Department
Support for the educational, clinical, and research programs in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine remains vital to our future. There are a number of ways in which you could support our ongoing efforts.

Supporting Research Funds

  • Orthopaedic Surgery Research Fund
  • Ian Cali F.O.P. Research Fund
This research fund was created in honor of Ian L. Cali, a bright young man struggling with the rare bone disease Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (F.O.P.). Gifts to this fund support the ground-breaking research on the disease taking place in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery by Drs. Frederick Kaplan and Eileen M. Shore, Ph.D., Co-Directors for the Center for Research in FOP and Related Disorders.
  • Whitney Weldon F.O.P. Research Fund
This research fund was created in honor of Whitney Weldon and in support of the ground-breaking research of the rare disease Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (F.O.P.). Gifts to this fund support the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as they work towards a cure for F.O.P.
