Guided Tours
Guided tours can be scheduled on Thursdays and Fridays
at 10 AM and 1 PM.
Tours should be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Tours
last approximately one hour.
There is a suggested donation of $4.00 per person.
To schedule a tour, call Library Services at (215) 829-3370,
Monday - Friday 9 AM - 4 PM.
Self-Guided Tours
Visitors are welcome to self-guided tours; Monday through
Friday between 9 AM and 4 PM.
Self-guided tour brochures can be purchased in the hospital
Gift Shop for a suggested donation of $4.00 per brochure.
The gift shop is located in the Preston Lobby near the Welcome
Desk.
Cell Phone-Guided Tours
The Pennsylvania Hospital Historic Collections has joined
the growing list of historic sites that use cell phone tours
to better serve our visitor population. Thanks to a generous
donation from Dr. Domenic DeLaurentis, in memory of his late
wife Molly, a long-time Auxilian and tour guide, PHHC is working
with Guide by Cell to bring visitors a better touring experience.
Stop by the gift shop and purchase a brochure ($4.00 per brochure).
Inside you’ll find the telephone number to gain access
to the system; from there, voice prompts guide you through
the process. Once inside the Pine Building you’ll see
numbers near various doors; enter the number on your cell
phone and you’ll hear an interesting story from our
past. This is a great way to hear the stories of our past
when it is convenient for you. You have the option to repeat
prompts if you miss something. Tour as long—or short—as
you want. Listen to prompts in any order you like. It’s
your tour—you decide!
Attention Researchers and Visitors:
A new visitor management system is in effect as of October
1, 2008. All visitors will be required to check in at the
welcome desk upon arrival and receive a visitor badge. You
will be required to enter the Hospital via the main entrance
on 8th Street (between Spruce and Pine streets).
