The objectives of Pennsylvania
Hospitals residency programs
include:
- Provide a high quality educational experience for residents
and high standards for patient care in order to ensure
the continuous availability of highly trained physicians
for the hospital and the community.
- Foster the development of residents' teaching
and interpersonal skills, and encourage discussion and
understanding of medical
ethics.
- Offer instruction in the socioeconomics of health care
and the importance of cost-effective medical practice.
- Respond
to residents with timely feedback on clinical competence
including: clinical judgment, medical knowledge, clinical
skills,
humanistic qualities, professional attitude and behavior,
medical care, and moral and ethical behavior.
- Encourage a
broad understanding of the roles of other health professionals,
including nursing and management, and foster
collaborative practice models.
- Meet all ACGME and RRC criteria
for fully accredited resident education programs.
