Billing Policy
- The Molecular Pathology Laboratory does not accept personal
insurance plans from outpatients that are not seen at the University of
Pennsylvania Health System, due to the difficulty encountered in billing
Insurance companies and the lack of appropriate reimbursement.
Institutional billing information including Institution name, Physician Name,
Name and phone number of person to be contacted regarding billing and Billing
address is required with specimen submission. Personal payment may be arranged
on a special needs basis.
Methods of Payment
- Institutions must either provide a purchasing
order number (PO#)
or set up a client (family) account by calling the laboratory
with the following information:
o Institution name
o Physician name
o Name and phone number of person to be contacted regarding billing
o Billing address
- When using a PO#, the number must be indicated on the requisition
form for each specimen submitted for analysis. PO# is required with specimen
submission.
