About the Department of Otorhinolaryngology
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in Philadelphia, PA provides diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose and throat disorders.
Our department has been in formal existence since 1870, making it one of the oldest departments and residencies in the country. The department is proud of its tradition of excellence in patient care, education and research that has continued to flourish for well over a century.

What's New
- Congratulations to Drs. Gregory Weinstein and Bert O’Malley, Jr on being awarded the prestigious Luigi Mastroianni Clinical Innovator Award for their work on the use of TORS in the treatment of head and neck carcinomas. This award is reserved for those clinicians who are truly pioneers in their field.
- "Cancer in the Lives of Older Americans: Blessings and Battles" has just been published by the University of Pennsylvania Press. This volume is authored by Professor Sarah Kagan, a nurse who specializes in supportive care for older people who have cancer. Professor Kagan holds appointments in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery, the Abramson Cancer Center, and the School of Nursing.
