At the University of Pennsylvania, The Department of Otorhinolaryngology has been in formal existence since the 1870s, making it one of the oldest departments and residencies in the country. The department is proud of its tradition of excellence in patient care, education and research that has continued to flourish for well over a century.

U.S.News & World Report ranked the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania the highest in the region for treatment of ear, nose and throat disorders and one of the best in the country.

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery provides diagnosis and treatment for problems of tumors and cancers of the head and neck area, skull base surgery and other problems of the ear, nose and throat.  Specialties include microsurgery of the ear, hearing loss, balance disorders, cochlear implantation, rehabilitation of the hearing-impaired, rhinology, sinus disease, smell and taste disorders, tumors of the head and neck, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, laryngology, and vocal and speech
disorders.
