The da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System

The team at PENN was the first in the world to develop the surgical techniques known as Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS)  which uses the da Vinci Surgical system to remove benign and malignant tumors of the mouth and throat.  Our team also has the longest and largest experience performing these techniques.  Our team approach prior to, during and after surgery has also set the standard for these new techniques.

Use of robot-assisted technology as a means to overcome surgical limitations (such as line of site obstruction and limited operative field), providing surgeons with improved dexterity and precision, coupled with advanced imaging techniques with three-dimensional depth perception, may allow for the completion of transoral surgical approaches in patients for whom conventional technology has been suboptimal. Prior experience with the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System has evidenced the following benefits for patients when compared to non-robotically assisted procedures:

If you are a physician with a patient, or if you are a patient who appears to meet the criteria above and would like an opportunity to receive cutting-edge treatment, please call 215-349-5390 to schedule an appointment.
