HOW TO SEND GE FLOODS THROUGH GAMMACON

To send a flood from a networked GE camera (Mobile or 400) to the Picker prism22:

  1. On the GE station that has the file(s) you want to send*, type: NSND and hit the RETURN button.

  2. The screen will change to show a form with blanks that you must fill in to specify which file you want to send and where to send it. CAUTION: when you first enter this screen, there are asterisks in all the blanks. Asterisks are wild-card characters so if you inadvertently hit the SEND FORM button, many, many files will be sent over the network. Please be careful not to hit SEND FORM until you are certain the blanks are filled in correctly. At any time you can exit from NSND by pushing the ESCAPE button.

  3. The cursor will be at the top of the screen on the "Destination Station Name" line. Type GAMMACON and hit RETURN.

  4. The cursor will move down to the "Patient Code" line. Hit the HELP button. A menu of patients on the GE will appear. Use the up/down arrows to locate and highlight the flood file. Hit SELECT. The words RSR EXTRINSIC should appear in the Patient Code line. Caution: there are 2 spaces between RSR and EXTRINSIC, so be careful if you type the Patient Code instead of selecting it.

  5. To send an entire week of floods, skip to step 7.

  6. To send the flood from a particular day, hit RETURN until the cursor is on the "Study Name" line (NOT the "File Name" line used in transferring patient studies). If you go too far, push the BACK button) Type in the day of the week the flood was acquired, e.g. TUESDAY

  7. Verify that (1) the "Destination Station Name" line says GAMMACON, (2) the "Patient Code" is RSR EXTRINSIC, and (3) a study name is filled in if appropriate. Then hit SEND FORM.

  8. The word S00 will appear in the lower left hand corner of the screen. This should increment to reflect the number of files sent, to S01 for 1 file, up to S02 for 2 files, etc. IMPORTANT: if S00 doesn't change to S01 you have incorrectly specified the flood file and the GE can't identify a file to send to the GammaCon.

  9. After a pause the word R00 should appear and increment to R01 if 1 file was sent, R02 for 2, etc. IMPORTANT: if this doesn't happen the GammaCon may not be on or may not be in Monitor mode. The Monitor window should have a highlighted line of text scrolling down the screen saying "Hit Any Key To Exit Monitor Mode".

The files are on their way. In a few minutes the files should reach the GammaCon, where they'll be converted to Interfile format and sent to the prism22. Two minutes later the prism22 will start converting them to Picker format and they'll appear in the Clinical Index under the Patient Name: "QUALITY ASSURANCE". They will appear in the order in which they were sent, not chronologically by date of acquisition.

*Note: Only the GE Mobile and GE 400AT are on the network, however files from the GE 2000 can be transferred to the GammaCon on floppy disks. See the handout entitled "HOW TO CONVERT GE 2000 IMAGES TO PICKER FORMAT USING GAMMACON" for details.
