How to Reboot VP Computers

If a disk of another computer is mounted on your computer and that other computer subsequently is shut off, then you will not be able to unmount that disk and your computer will not be able to access its Clinical Index (because it hangs up looking for the missing disk). If this happens you will have to reboot:

Position the mouse outside of all windows and hold down the right button. Select "Exit Windows" and release. Click the "OK, Exit" button. Wait for the background to turn blue and a login window to appear. In the login: space type

shutdown

then hit Enter twice (no password needed). Wait about 60 seconds until prompt changes to ">>>".

How to Reboot If System Locked Up

This method may result in data loss. Use this procedure IF AND ONLY IF you cannot access the right mouse menu's "Exit Windows" command. If all else fails, locate the white breaker switch on the power strip that is mounted to the underside of the countertop. Flip it to the OFF position. Wait at least 15 seconds before flipping it back ON. Wait until you get a prompt that says: ">>>"
