Two of our students, representing the class of 2008, (Kristen Thress and Danielle Leonetti) at the 2008 Philadelphia Society of Radiologic Technologists Annual student competition on Friday March 28th were awarded 3rd place. The competition draws programs from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, and this year 24 school teams participated in the 5 hour academic competition. Congratulations to Kristen and Danielle. Thanks to Scott Cupp and Carla Garcia for serving as team mentors and helping the students prepare for the competition.









aunt minnie awardThe radiologic technologist is a health care practitioner who plays an important role on the medical team. Technologists are usually employed in a department of radiology or medical imaging performing a variety of radiographic procedures including basic x-ray procedures or advanced procedures such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. Typical responsibilities of the radiologic technologist include interacting regularly with ill, injured, or suffering individuals, producing and processing quality diagnostic radiographs, and communicating effectively with fellow technologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members.

Program Description

The program for radiologic technologists sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center is a full-time program with not more than 40 hours per week. Courses are scheduled to begin in September.

Computed Tomography

We are pleased to announce our new continuing education programs offered to ARRT registered technologists in Computed Tomography beginning March, 2007.

Full-time Six Month Internship in CT includes clinical and academic coursework.

MRI

One-week Visiting Fellowships in MRI are offered throughout the year for technologists in separate training programs. They are highly interactive teaching sessions with small sizes designed to teach MR principles, methodology and clinical applications.

Six Month Internships in MRI,a competency based program, is a full time internship that combines clinical with didactic information and is intended for those technologists who are serious about pursuing a career in MRI.
