Six-Month Internships in MRI, a competency-based program, is a full-time internship that combines clinical with didactic information and is intended for those technologists who are serious about pursuing a career in MRI.
Course curricula & clinical competency follows guidelines of the Associated Educators in Radiological Sciences (AERS) and the Section for Magnetic Resonance Technologists (SMRT). The objective of the six-month internship, is to provide the technologist with a firm understanding of the principles of MRI (the didactic) as well as clinical experience (the clinical practicum). Upon completion of this program the technologist will be prepared to pass the MR boards and gain employment in MRI.
The didactic portion of this course includes numerous lectures on all aspects of MRI including physics, anatomy, procedures and pathology.
The clinical practicum includes 19 weeks or 665 hours of clinical imaging. Clinical rotations are completed at:

The minimum requirement for acceptance into the MRI internship program is that the applicant be registered by the ARRT in either Radiography (R.T. (R)), Nuclear Medicine (R.T. (N)), or in Radiation Therapy (R.T. (RT)). Subsequent to the internship, the technologist will be required to take the Advanced level examination in MRI offered by the ARRT.

Upon receipt of the items listed above, you will be contacted to schedule an interview with John Posh, RT(R)(MR), Director of MRI Technologist Internships. Interviews are held twice a year – once in the spring for the September internship and once in the fall for the March internship. You will also be sent a link to the HSI personal assessment survey, which must be completed before your interview.
Application Fee:
$75.00 check or money order payable at time of submission to "HUP – RT Education". Fee is non-refundable.
Tuition:
$4,500 ($500 deposit upon acceptance. The remainder is to be paid in monthly installments during the course of the program). Tuition assistance is the responsibility of the Student Applicant. Tuition is subject to change.
Books:
Books are the responsibility of the student and will be listed during the orientation.
