Scheduled Test: GASTRIC EMPTY

Where: Nuclear Medicine, 3rd floor Donner Building

Purpose: To evaluate stomach emptying rate.

Contraindications: Sulfa allergy

Preparation: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before your exam.

What to Expect: You will be fed a meal consisting of three egg whites; a very small amount of a Radioactive material will be mixed into these eggs. You will also receive a slice of toast and a small glass of water.

Immediately after you finish eating the meal, we will take two 1-minute images of your stomach. We will then take images of the stomach every 15 minutes for a total of two hours.

After Care: You may resume your normal lifestyle.
