Scheduled Test: Persantine Radiopharmaceutical Stress Test (On Meds)

| This test requires coordination between the Cardiology and Nuclear Medicine Departments, and the radiopharmaceutical is only usable on the day it is received. If for any reason you will be unable to take this test at the scheduled time, you must notify the Exercise Laboratory at least 24 hours in advance at 215-662-7285. | Purpose: | This test is intended to evaluate myocardial perfusion. |
| Preparation: | If you are taking Insulin, please call your physician for further instructions.
24 Hours Before Scheduled Test DO NOT drink coffee, tea or anything containing caffeine (for example - drinks containing chocolate, soda, and beverages labeled decaffeinated and caffeine free) 24 hours prior to your scheduled test. Your physician has requested that you do not take the following later than 24 hours before your scheduled test: Persantine (dipyridamole), unless otherwise instructed by your physician. 2 Hours Before Scheduled Test DO NOT eat or drink anything for 2 hours before the test. If you do eat or drink two hours prior to your test, your test may be cancelled. You may drink water. You may take any prescribed medication(s). |
| Procedure: | This study will require you to be here for about 5 hours. The test begins with the
administration of Persantine intravenously for 4 minutes followed by scans of the
heart. You will have about 2 breaks” during this time and as part of the study, a
light snack will be provided for you during 1 of these breaks.

| After Care: | Your doctor will discuss the test results with you. You may resume your normal
life style.
