General Information

Interventional Neuroradiology is a growing specialty primarily dedicated to the treatment of disorders of the blood vessels of the neck and brain from inside the blood vessels.

Conditions in the past that would have required surgical intervention such as aneurysms, vascular malformations, and tumors of the brain, spine, head and neck can be considered for treatment by using an endovascular approach to reach the lesion safely and effectively using devices within the blood vessels.

Common endovascular therapies include angioplasty (opening a narrowed artery with a balloon) and treatment of aneurysms (a balloon-like weakness in the wall of an artery) within the head. Interventional Neuroradiology provides extensive experience in state-of-the art spine procedures including vertebroplasty designed to alleviate the pain from spine fractures resulting from osteoporosis, and kyphoplasty designed to fix spinal deformities without need for surgery.

Diagnostic Neuroradiology is also a rapidly growing area because of exciting new technical advancements in CT and MRI. We provide state-of-the-art imaging including MR spectroscopy for the study of brain tumors and epilepsy, MR and CT perfusion imaging for the study of stroke and brain tumors, and high quality MR and CT angiography for the noninvasive study of the arteries that supply the brain. We also provide high level of expertise in imaging Head and Neck cancer.

Overview of section:

Faculty consists of 10 neuroradiologists with sub-specialty expertise in Head and Neck, Spine, brain, neurovascular, and advanced MR imaging. In addition, we have 8 neuroradiolgy fellows in training.

Our state-of-the-art equipment consists of the following:
