Radiology Handbook
The Breast Imaging Division, accredited by the American College of Radiology, provides screening and problem-solving mammography for outpatients at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and its satellites. The basic examination utilizes state-of-the-art, low-dose film screen equipment with the capability for supplemental clarification with magnification, spot compression, and special projects. Hand-held, high-resolution ultrasound examinations are utilized, when appropriate, for differentiation of cystic from solid lesions. When necessary, needle localizations are performed in conjunction with outpatient surgical biopsy. As an alternative to needle localization and excisional biopsy, stereotactic or ultrasound-guided large core needle biopsies are performed when appropriate.
Mammography is also available at Penn Medicine at Radnor, 250 King of Prussia Rd., Radnor.
Please call (215) 662-6030 to speak with a technologist if you have questions about your procedure.
